William Goldman – noted screenwriter of many a film – said the above titled quote about the movie industry back in the 1970s.
In my experience, it continues to hold true today in that same space, as well as the one this site will deal with: the infamous world of enhancing and maintaining one’s image and/or business with social networking.
For the record, this is my fourth blog, and the first one I’ve ever written a “here’s what this is gonna be all about post” for.
(Blog #1 was a fake site for a friend on a reality show, #2 was a long-running comedic NBA site that went on to become a feature film, and #3 is my personal blog, which is alive and well.)
Anyway, the reason I’m writing the intro-style post is simple – I’m still sorting out what this will be about.
Things I don’t want to do:
1) I’m certainly not out to just re-purpose Mashable or any other site/blog that covers this space. There’s no purpose to that.
2) This won’t ever be a series of “look what TPT5 did for this client” posts for sure. If you need confirmation on that, just read the rationale/policy on the About page.
What I hope to do:
1) Speculate toward futuristic leanings like my old “Dinner Party of 2020″ theory. I’ll have to actually write that down for the site one day, I suppose.
2) Explain anything I feel is absolutely essential if I don’t think it’s been done elsewhere, or if I have what I feel is a unique enough take.
3) Analyze how specific companies or individuals are or could be using these new social tools.
I guess my take is that “social networking” as a whole is a broad topic, and also constantly in flux…and the writings found here will likely be equally so.
Also, the reason I’ve never written a “here’s what the blog is about” entry on any of my old sites is because they’re always awkward to find a good closing statement for.
(Brian started TPT5, owns TPT5, and does most of the work for TPT5. He outsources or refers elsewhere if it means a better result for the client. His brain works good. You can often find him on Twitter, and read about his other life on his personal blog.)
